Ready, Set, GrowYouthReady, Set, Grow! (Ages 8-10) Ready, Set, Grow is a multi-week, hands-on youth gardening program taught by certified Le Sueur County Master Gardeners. Youth use their natural curiosity to explore and learn about science and nutrition through hands-on experiences in their own garden. Three engaging activity areas are featured each week. New this year: Ready, Set, Grow is a Le Sueur County 4-H Club, too. Youth can take advantage of all the projects, activities and programs offered through 4-H including exhibiting at the Le Sueur County Fair in August. You don't have to live in Le Sueur County to participate. Sewing MonsterYouthSewing Monster Project (Grades 4-8 Girls & Boys) No sewing experience necessary! For girls and boys to learn hand sewing basics and leave with a project! Beginners will learn basic hand sewing techniques, while the more experienced students can expand on skills they already have. Learn how to thread a needle, tie a knot, four basic stitches (running stitch, back stitch, blanket stitch and overcast stitch) and how to sew a button. Let their creativity run wild as they explore fabric and the capabilities of using a needle and thread Each child will get to customize their plush monster design, stitch it together and fill it with stuffing. They will create their very own unique monster softie to take home.
